Zuko rolled his eyes, “How convenient it was for me to knock you over then. You can bother me here instead,” he smiled. A nice stroll arm in arm with one of his closest friends, brought the rarely seen smile to the firelord’s features. He frowned as they began to walk, “I’ll be needing to head back this afternoon however. Tying loose ends to some things,” he nodded. Deep down, he didn’t want to talk about work. Just as deep down, he knew that’s all he had to talk about. Zuko asked curiously, “Are you always up this early? And in this area of the palace? I pass through maybe 3 times out of the week and have not seen you.”
She looked up just in time to see the frown. “None of that around me, Zuzu.” She lifted a hand, pushing a corner of his mouth. “You smile with me or I’ll make you.” The walk lead them outside, wanting to get away from the enclosed areas.
“Normally not. I actually prefer to sleep in but… my mind has been a bit worried about you. You’ve seemed so down lately and I just don’t know why.” Katara prodded his side, smiling.

Zuko was appalled and hurriedly took her hand to help her up, “Sorry… again,” he removed his hands from her. What can possibly be so distracting that you can level out a grown woman by simply walking? Zuko thought, berating himself, how fast had he been walking? He folded his arms and frowned, followed by a smile, “Please, friends can call me Zuko.” The firelord placed a friendly hand on her shoulder, cocking his head slightly to the side, “Sometimes I think you just call me that because I tell you not to,” Zuko chuckled.
She pulled herself up, brushing off her robes. “Yes, yes. You are always sorry.” Katara pulled the man into a tight hug. “I was actually just about to come bother you in your office.” The woman pulled back, only to link her arm in his. “And perhaps I do. Or perhaps I say it when I am annoyed with you.” Another grin and she began to walk with him.
The waterbender just wanted to make sure he was alright. So, she was leading him as far away from the office as possible.

The firelord’s eyes opened slowly as he awoke. Not a great sleep, he thought as he rubbed his eyes, but sleep nonetheless. He adorned his firelord garb and was offered breakfast by the servants. Zuko’s appetite had been off for sometime, but accepted a small meal to keep away the worry and the questions. He walked into the office jointed to his chamber, analyzing the memos he had left for himself. A not so busy day compared to last few that had passed. Most things were involving politics, which always took more time beyond his control. Zuko allowed himself a walk in the fresh morning air before starting his work. Embarrassingly unaware, he collided with a woman as he turned the corner. Zuko stepped back, shocked, “I’m sorry, I wasn’t…” He paused, fully registering the appearance of the woman in blue, “Katara! Wasn’t expecting to run into… well, not literally.” The firelord frowned, “You know what I mean.”
Katara wasn’t entirely sure how she got up and out of bed each morning. Sometimes she just felt so sad and overwhelmed with everything that had been going on. It wasn’t often but it was enough to affect how she lived.
She rolled herself out of bed and went about her morning ritual. She got up, did a few stretches and then a shower. The waterbender then went to get breakfast. Her mind was so focused on worrying about Zuko that she didn’t even notice he was there until she literally ran into him.
She fell down, looking up to him. “Well then. Fire Lord, I expected better from you. Just running into me like that.” She grinned and held her hand up to him. “Now help me up.”

He placed his hands on her hips, and thought for a moment, then shrugged, “I’m not sure, but I know I have been wanting this for a long time, and I want… this… Do you.. still want to stay?” He looked at her hopefully.
“If you’ll have me…”
Zuko smiled and pulled her into his arms, “Of course.”
She blushed deeply at the mention, resting her arms on his shoulders. “H-how long have you felt like this?”
flameozuzu:
Zuko stepped forward and pulled Katara’s face to his, pulling her into a kiss. He spoke with his hands still on the sides of her jaw, “Don’t leave.”
She gasped as she was pulled forward, unable to stop him. One because he moved too fast. but the real reason being that she didn’t want to. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders, returning the kiss before he pulled away. “…what is here for me?” She bit her lip after she asked, wanting to know where Zuko was planning on taking this.
flameozuzu:
Zuko growled as he turned around, “Yes, Katara… I am… I didn’t mean anything by leaving after we kissed… It was dishonorable of me,” he looked up at her through his hair into her eyes, “I’m sorry.”
“…you and your damned honor! Zuko, this is more than you! You have now involved me. Do you want to see where this goes? Or should I leave now with what is left of my heart?”

He looked up again, “No feelings in it? What are you talking about?” He looked down the hall then back to her, “I ran because… I was ashamed, Katara. I had lost my self control and I… I felt like I shouldn’t have just… pressured you like that…”
“Ashamed because you kissed me and you don’t care for me like that.” She shook her head. “That’s why I have to leave. Because I care, Zuko!”
Zuko clenched his fists, “Ahh! That’s not what I meant! That’s not it at all!” He turned and put his hand to his face, covering his eyes, “Can we not fix this?”
“Fix it how? Are you trying to say you have feelings for me? Because running away did not help the situation!”
